WEAVERVILLE, TRINITY COUNTY — November 7, 2026. Trinity County Health and Human Services Agency has received a $55,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety to help families choose, install and use child car seats correctly. The program runs from October 1, 2026, through September 30, 2027.
What is available for families?
Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians plan individual seat-check appointments, community inspection events and education about suitable car seats and booster seats. The county also expects to provide at least 55 seats at no cost to eligible families who participate in child passenger safety education. The number describes a program goal, not seats already distributed.
Reaching remote communities
Long driving distances can make routine safety services harder to reach in Trinity County. The program specifically prioritizes underserved households and rural areas, using partnerships, presentations and other outreach to connect caregivers with practical guidance. The grant will also help technicians maintain or update their professional certifications.
How to get help
Parents and caregivers can contact the Trinity County Public Health Branch at 530-623-1358 to inquire about car seat appointments, eligibility, free-seat availability and upcoming events. Families should verify details directly rather than assuming every request can be accommodated immediately.
